The only ingredient you may have difficulty getting is cannabis flowers. In fact, you have need to order them online. And, if you do be sure to order them in advance, so you have them in plenty of time to start this recipe. The ingredients you will need include:
- ½ to 1 cup of dried cannabis flowers
- 1 Cup of virgin olive oil (can be substituted with coconut oil)
1st Step – The first step involves grinding the cannabis flowers. You can decide if you want to utilize the entire plant, the flowers or a mixture of both. Utilize the hand grinder to grind the cannabis. It is not recommended to grind the cannabis to a fine powder. However, you can base this decision on your preferences.
2nd Step – The second step involves mixing the oil with the ground cannabis. Just pour these ingredients into the glass bowl and stir thoroughly with the spatula.
3rd Step – The third step involves warming the oil and ground cannabis on low heat. Just pour the content into the slow cooker and allow to cook on low for about six hours. This process is known as decarboxylation, which preserves the THC in the cannabis. If you accidentally scorch the oil and ground content, it will be rendered useless because the THC will be ruined. When utilizing a double-boiler, you should increase the cooking time to eight hours and saucepan cooking should be reduced to three hours. The key is to keep the temperature at 245 degrees Fahrenheit or below. Add a little water as needed to prevent scorching.
4th Step – The fourth step involves straining the mixture. Drape the cheesecloth over the glass bowl and pour the mixture into it slowly. Once you are done dispose of the cheesecloth. It is important to note that if you squeeze the cheesecloth it will add additional chlorophyll to the cannabis oil.
5th Step – The last step involves pouring the cannabis oil into the glass bottle. Place the funnel into the bottle and gently pour the cannabis oil in. Wipe the bottle clean prior to sealing it shut.
Be sure to write the date on the outside of the oil bottle, because it will expire in about two months if stored at room temperature. To extend the life of the cannabis oil, just place it in the refrigerator.
