Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine and the Long Beach Convention and Visitor’s Bureau are teaming up for the fifth year in a row to offer, a searchable calendar of free concerts & movies, Long Beach Sea Festival events, El Dorado Nature Center & historic site events, and ideas for spontaneous fun like hiking, biking, golf, tennis, swimming, and youth and teen programs. Here’s what’s coming up:

Movies in the Park – sponsored by Signal Hill Petroleum. The movie and popcorn are free, and the time spent with family is priceless! Bring a lawn chair, blanket, and picnic-style dinner. Movie begins at dusk.

Planes: Aug. 22, Silverado Park

Frozen the Sing-a-Long: Aug. 27 El Dorado Park West

Music in the Park – Steel Parade (Calypso) Concert Aug. 28, 5:30 p.m. El Dorado Nature Center $3/under age 5 free.
Enjoy a picnic by the lake. Bring low chairs and a picnic dinner. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. Steel Parade fuses Calypso, funk and reggae for an exciting contemporary rhythms.

Dustbowl Revival (Folk / Bluegrass) Concert Aug. 25, 5:30 p.m. Rancho Los Cerritos Free

Pack a picnic dinner and enjoy a free concert on the grounds of the historic rancho. The Dustbowl Revival merges bluegrass, gospel, jug-band, swamp blues and the hot swing of the 1930s. Known for their inspired sets, The Dustbowl Revival boldly brings together many styles of traditional American music. Call (562) 570-1755 for more information.

Tiki Beach Festival Aug. 23 & 24 Sunrise to 5:30 p.m. Granada Beach

Enjoy hundreds of Polynesian musicians and dancers performing each day, an island market place with over 100 craft vendors as well as the famous the famous ‘Aloha Food Court.” This event consistently draws over 10,000 guests over the 2 days and has been featured in many publications and television shows. Free community event.
