The second case of an intruder being shot and killed by a Long Beach resident occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, Aug. 10.
At 3:07 a.m., police responded to an in-progress burglary call at the 2800 block of East Third Street with information the suspect was shot inside the home. Paramedics pronounced the suspect, Ryan Anderson, a 29-year-old resident of Long Beach, deceased at the scene.
Police concluded Anderson scaled a wall to the backyard, then broke a window to enter the home. Police stated Anderson had personal property belonging to the resident on his person and also concluded there is no connection between the suspect and the residents of the home.
Friends of Anderson, who lived near East Third Street and Newport Avenue, expressed shock over the circumstances of his death. On Monday night, Aug. 11, about 90 of them gathered at 8 p.m. at the Hole Mole restaurant on Fourth Street and Almond Avenue, where Anderson was last seen Sunday night. The group then arrived in front of the home where he was shot to hold a vigil, causing some concern of the part of local residents, then walked to Anderson’s home.
