Jyl Marden Appointed Interim Assistant City Manager
From Issue: Volume XXII - Number 15
City Manager Patrick H. West announced the appointment of Jyl Marden as Interim Assistant City Manager, effective August 2.
"Jyl has been an integral part of the city's executive management team for the last 14 years," said West. "I've been fortunate to have her on my staff, and am fully confident that her vast professional experience with the City of Long Beach is what we need in an interim assistant city manager."
Marden has been with the City of Long Beach for 30 years and is currently the assistant to the city manager, working closely with the mayor, city council, and city management on all aspects of the city's governance. Marden's appointment is temporary. West hopes to make a formal appointment to the position in the month of August, and have a new person in this position by October 1. Marden will return to her current position when a new assistant city manager is officially on board.
Marden will be temporarily filling the position currently held by Suzanne Frick. She is not a candidate for the permanent position.
As was previously announced, Ms. Frick has submitted her resignation to accept a position as city administrator for the City of Ketchum, Idaho. Her last day with the City of Long Beach will be Friday, August 1. The city has engaged the services of an executive search firm to conduct a nationwide search for qualified candidates, as well as to look for candidates within the city organization. The deadline for applications is Friday, August 1.
