Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine and the Long Beach Convention and Visitor’s Bureau are teaming up for the fifth year in a row to offer www.100daysofsummer.org a searchable calendar of free concerts & movies, Long Beach Sea Festival events, El Dorado Nature Center & historic site events, and ideas for spontaneous fun like hiking, biking, golf, tennis, swimming, and youth and teen programs. Here’s what’s coming up:

Long Beach Municipal Band Concerts

Back for its 105th year, the Long Beach Municipal Band will present a “Summer Festival of Music” featuring big band, pop jazz and Latin music. Bring family and friends, a picnic dinner and get ready for a great evening at your local park. All concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. This week hear the song stylings of the talented Becky Martin.
July 1 – Whaley Park, 5620 Atherton Street
July 2 – Los Cerritos Park, 3750 Del Mar
July 3 – Marine Stadium, 5839 Appian Way
July 4 – Veterans Stadium, 5000 Lew Davis (7 p.m. show; free admission, $10 parking fee)

Movies in the Park

“The Nut Job,” sponsored by Signal Hill Petroleum. The movie and popcorn are free, and the time spent with family is priceless! Bring a lawn chair, blanket, and picnic-style dinner. Movie begins at dusk. An incorrigibly self-serving squirrel helps pals raid a nut store to survive that is also the front for a human gang’s bank robbery.
