Easter Events in Long Beach

From Issue: Volume XXII - Number 8
4/18/2014

By Bill Owen

Long Beach will come alive on Sunday, April 20 for Easter.

The Long Beach Rotary will be hosting its third annual Mark Bixby Memorial Easter Egg Hunt at Centennial Park Saturday, April 19 from 9-10:30 a.m.

As the name implies, the event will honor the late Mark Bixby, a prominent Long Beach resident and businessman who died in a plane crash at Long Beach Airport in March 2011.

In addition to the egg hunt, the event will have an Easter bunny for photo opportunities, face painting, Easter bag decorating and a reading area where Rotarians can read to children. Every child in attendance can take home a book.

Last year, the event saw about 200 children. Attendance is expected to increase this year due to the Rotary’s marketing efforts, according to Tori Glossock of the Long Beach Rotary.

“Rotarians work very hard every month to keep the Rotary Centennial Park clean, and this event is just one more example of the way in which Rotarians put ‘Service above Self’ to make sure the children in the community adjacent to the park have a great holiday,” Glossock said.

The Aquarium of the Pacific will be hosting Easter Breakfast from 8:30 to 11 a.m. The cost will be $39.50 for adults ($29.50 for members) and $29.50 for children ($19.50 for members). A $5 gift certificate to Pacific Collections will be included.
