Jim Lewis for 3rd District Council announced that Blake Christian, CPA, a partner with Holthouse Carlin & Van Tright, LLP has joined his team as the campaign’s finance chairman. Lewis’ recent campaign kickoff included John Morris, partner and general manager of McKenna’s, LB First Lady Nancy Foster and Blake Christian as hosts. Lewis outlined his priorities as: Continuing the conservative fiscal management we’ve seen of late from the current council, renewing transparency, accountability and public trust at City Hall, strengthening public safety and improving infrastructure. www.JimLewisForCouncil.com.
The Los Angeles County Democratic Party voted to endorse James Johnson for Long Beach City Attorney. The LACDP is the official governing body of the Democratic Party in the County of Los Angeles. In Long Beach, approximately 128,591 registered voters are Democrats, out of a total number of 251,576 registered voters (51.1%), while Republicans make up 20.8% of voters and members of other parties and independents make up 28.1%. The Long Beach Fire?ghters Association announced that it has endorsed Charles Parkin for Long Beach City Attorney in the upcoming April 8th election. Parkin’s 18+ years of experience in the City Attorney’s Of?ce was a key factor in earning the endorsement. Parkin was appointed by the City Council last July as the Long Beach City Attorney. He has worked in both the Litigation and Departmental Counsel Divisions of the of?ce since 1995. The city attorney manages an annual departmental budget of nearly $9 million and supervises 64 employees, including 20 attorneys.
Mayoral Candidate Doug Otto announced the opening of the campaign’s headquarters at the location of the former Yankee Doodles club in Belmont Shore. The opening coincides with the launch of Otto’s new website: www.dougottoforlongbeach.com. “I encourage people to visit the website to find out what the campaign is up to and to get involved,” Otto said.
Mayoral Candidate Robert Garcia opened a headquarters at 210 E. 3rd St. at the end of the Promenade in Downtown Long Beach next door to Michael’s Pizzeria. Bring your friends and join the fun at the grand opening on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be plenty of opportunities to volunteer.
