Theatre Guild Celebrates 20th Season This Year

From Issue: Volume XXII - Number 1

Motion picture and theater director, Jeff Hathcock, will direct his 174th and 175th stage production this spring for The Bungalow Players, a part of The Theatre Guild and Southeast Civic Light Opera. The Theatre Guild is celebrating its 20th season at their new location in the Bungalow Building, 743 Pine Ave., Long Beach.

Since beginning the Theater Guild in 1994, Hathcock has worked with over 5,000 children, teens and adults: some of which have appeared in several of his movies as well as other movies. Three of his students are currently in Broadway productions or are in National Touring Companies. Several have co-starred in television shows, such as “Lizzie McGuire”, “Malcolm in The Middle”, “Boston Public” and “That 70s Show”. Hathcock’s latest movie, a film noir thriller, “The Two Pamela’s” is due out this spring and is appearing at various film festivals here and abroad.

“Working with the children has been my most rewarding work,” commented Hathcock. “Some of our productions have included entire families on stage together and that has been really fun. I am looking forward to celebrating our 20 year anniversary with our next two shows. They are classics with terrific characters for the actors to embrace.”

Auditions for “The Marvelous Land of Oz” will be held on Saturday January 18th at 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Monday, January 20th from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. and is open to children ages 8 – 11.

Auditions for the second show, “The Canterville Ghost” will be held on Saturday January 23, 1-3 p.m. and Monday, January 27, 7-8:30 p.m. for ages 12 – 17. Auditions will be held at 743 Pine Ave, Long Beach.

Rehearsals will be from 4:30 – 6:30, two days per week for each show.

The Theatre Guild and Southeast Civic Light Opera was located in Lakewood for eight years and at the Liberty Theater in Los Alamitos for 11 years prior to moving to The Bungalow Building. For more information call (714) 827-9141 or visit:
