Beginning in January, the St. Mary Medical Center Mobile Clinic will travel through neighborhoods in Long Beach, evaluating individuals who may have heart abnormalities and ailments. The Mobile Clinic provides primary care screenings and then refers patients to clinics for further screenings and follow-up care. The Fitness Whisperer Program is personalized coaching and accountability you will have scheduled phone appointments with your fitness coach. You will journal weight, body-fat, workouts and food intake on spreadsheets provided for you, allowing us to see progress being made and goals being met. The Hebrew Academy is hosting “Grandparents Day” on Thursday Jan. 16, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. This meaningful event is an intergenerational experience for the children to connect the past with the future on a personal basis and give the families and community a first-hand glimpse at the advanced and engaging academic program at the Hebrew Academy. They are seeking “adoptive” grandparents in the community to stand in for the children whose grandparents live too distant to attend or have no living grandparents. The health professionals at Los Alamitos Medical Center offer some ways you can stay warm and safe this winter. Gas ranges and ovens as well as kerosene heaters that have not been properly ventilated can leak carbon monoxide into your home. Don’t use a gas range or oven to heat your house, charcoal or hibachi grills, lanterns and portable camping stoves are not appropriate for using inside your home, and never use a generator inside your home.
