Make a Difference

RICK RACKERS AUXILIARY of Assistance League provided school uniforms for every student at Bret Harte Elementary last week. Each year, the Rick Rackers “Operation School Bell” philanthropic program selects a school to clothe in support of National Make A Difference Day. Specifically, each of the students in this kindergarten through fifth-grade school received two complete school uniforms: two collared shirts, two pants (or shorts or skorts), under garments, socks, and a warm sweatshirt, along with a book and grade-appropriate school supplies. With the help of corporate partners, grants, and individual donations, new school uniforms have been provided to more than 70,000 in-need students since the program’s inception in 1974. For the 2013-2014 school year, Operation School Bell’s goal is to clothe 8,500 elementary and K-8 students.
