Dale Whitney 'Roasted'
From Issue: Volume XXI - Number 22
Honoring decades of community service, Centro Shalom “roasted” Mr. Farmers Market aka Dale Whitney at the Long Beach Petroleum Club. Reverend Whitney received certificates of appreciation from the U.S. House of Representatives via Congressman Alan Lowenthal, the California State Assembly, Los Angles County via Supervisor Don Knabe, and the City of Long Beach. Besides managing six Harbor Area Farmers Markets, Reverend Whitney has served on the board of Centro Shalom for nearly 25 years. Walter Miller, who has also been on the board of Centro Shalom, applauded Dale for his leadership and contributions to hunger issues and outreach to the poorest of the community. Centro Shalom is a Long Beach social services program of the South Coast Inter-faith Council. They provide pathways to health and self-sufficiency to the underserved and impoverished of the greater Long Beach/Harbor area. For more information visit www.centroshalom.org or www.goodveg.org.
