Violent Drug Trade
From Issue: Volume XXI - Number 2 1/25/2013
Editor:
I agree with Taylor Ramsey’s logical conclusion [Jan. 11 issue] that the drug trade is violent, and using drugs supports its existence. [It’s] a fact of life that we currently cannot change.
However, you could make the same argument for alcohol consumption. I don’t ever expect alcohol to be banned, but let’s look at it for the sake of argument.
Incidents of violence involving bars, auto accidents, broken families and the negative impact of alcohol abuse fill our newspapers, TVs and courthouses.
Alcohol related deaths are the leading cause of death among our youth, not drugs. The number of deaths caused by drunk drivers alone, is the same as a Boeing 747 with 500 people aboard crashing every eight days and killing everyone. Is there a war on alcohol?
