A Stanton resident was killed early this morning when his car crashed into a concrete office sign at the corner of Anaheim St. and Pacific Coast Hwy. The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Trevor Stevens.

Police spokeswoman Nancy Pratt said that Stevens' white 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse convertible was northbound on PCH at approximately 6:30 a.m., side-swiped a silver Ford Edge, veered into the southbound lanes against opposing traffic, then jumped the curb, crashing into the sign.

The accident occurred outside the Beachcomber offices and LA County Coroner’s investigators were seen removing the body after 10 a.m. It is unknown if drugs and/or alcohol were involved, but the investigation remains ongoing.

A 2002 graduate of Millikan High School, Stevens was the son of David and Rose Stevens of Long Beach and is also survived by a sister, brother and girlfriend, Alexa. Rose Stevens works in the 8th Council District office as office manager.

Most recently he obtained a union job in construction. He previously worked for two years as a bartender and cook at the 49'rs Tavern at Bellflower and PCH. Tavern owner Tracy Kittinger said “Trevor was a great friend and co-worker. We will miss him greatly.”
