The University Theater at CSULB states the image of the prototypical Latin lover will get revisited on Saturday, Nov. 3, when 2rC, a professional acting company from the Canary Islands, performs “Desmontando a Don Juan” beginning at 7 p.m. “Dismantling Don Juan” reexamines a character found in 17th and 19th century Spanish literature, as well as the English, French and Italian traditions, Gasior explained. Tickets for the performance are $10 for CSULB students, faculty and staff, and $15 for the general public at www.csulbdesmontandodonjuan.eventbrite.com.
The Found Theatre, 599 Long Beach Blvd., is hosting the exclusive Southern California engagement of Howard Petrick’s award-winning solo show “Breaking Rank!” Fresh from the prestigious, invitation-only New York Solo Festival, Petrick will appear at The Found for three performances only: Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9 and 10, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 11 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 ($10 for veterans and active military) and can be reserved at (562) 433-3363 or foundtheatre.org.
Hotel Maya -- Continuing its Mayan fall festivities, Fuego guests enjoy the complimentary Mayan Dinner Show featuring “The Dance of Ancient Mexico” with “Copali-Copili” dance troupe on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m., the final show of the season. “The Sounds of Ancient Mexico” with Martin Espino begins the two-hour show that also features an ancient Mayan fare tour of Latin America by Fuego Executive Chef Victor Juarez including a delicious chile relleno blanco, cocoa chili en-crusted venison, tikin-xic, Yucatecan style achiote rubbed Mexican sea bass and a scrumptious Mayan dessert, torta del cielo or heavenly cake.
