Retro Row Event

4th Street/Retro Row’s Summer Sidewalk Sale & Breast Cancer Awareness Benefit features bargains galore, live music and food trucks on Saturday, Sept. 22, noon to 6 p.m.

The 4th Street Sidewalk Sale is a fundraiser for Artful Thinking Organization, a Long Beach, California based 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides foundations with direct services program funding in tandem with community based events that will educate, enlighten and assist the community in making informed decisions about their health including Breast Cancer.

Women’s Confab

The California Women’s Conference is coming to Southern California! For nearly 30 years, women in California have enjoyed a conference that provided a forum for building successful businesses, strengthening careers, and positively influencing the world around them. A partial list of speakers includes: Gloria Allred, Marcia Cross, Dr. John Gray, and more.

Sessions are Sunday, Sept. 23: 5-8 p.m. and Monday, Sept 24: 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Long Beach Convention Center. A limited number of tickets are available at www.CaliforniaWomensConference.com: $79 Sunday only or $199 for both days.

Recipe for Success

Golden West College (GWC) will hold the 7th annual Chefs for Scholarships, an event to raise money for student scholarships, on Sunday, Sept. 23 from 4 to 7 p.m. A popular annual family fun event, Chefs for Scholarships will feature over 30 local restaurants, wineries and breweries serving scrumptious signature food and beverage samples for the guests. In addition to the food, there will be entertainment for the whole family.

This year’s event will again honor our brave fighting men and women by supporting the educational needs of our returning veterans. Three former combat veterans training for a new career as police officers in GWC’s Police Academy appreciate the assistance they received through a GWC Patrons Scholarship. Mini-Golf Tournament

Enjoy an afternoon of mini-golf, food and prizes to raise funds for POWER 4 Youth’s mentoring program at its 2nd Annual Mini-Golf Tournament on Monday, Sept. 24 at Boomers in Fountain Valley. POWER 4 Youth is a site-based program that matches caring adults to mentor youth with the goal of helping them to do better in school. Volunteer mentors assist students in acquiring both the academic and social skills crucial to achieving success.
