Pandering to Illegals

From Issue: Volume XX - Number 13
6/29/2012

The president’s recent announcement pandering to the illegals should have been no surprise. It echoes that infamous missed teaching moment nearly two years ago when a young elementary school girl, whispered to Michelle Obama that her mother did not have “papers” to be in the country.

Michelle Obama’s response should have followed along these lines: ....“Oh, do not worry. The president should be able to help-and-it will be an exciting time for your mother. She will have a wonderful opportunity to go back and visit all her friends she went to school with-it will be fun. She will be with her fellow class mates.”

When she is there, the president can help her get her papers and find her place in line so that he will no longer have to worry about it. Getting in line, as you know, is the American way. No one likes anyone cutting in line.

You do not cut in line do you? When you are out on the playground waiting to use swings or slides, you do not like it when people cut in line ahead of you. That would not be fair-just like it would not be fair for someone to cut in front of you at the lunch line in the cafeteria.

Once you mother does the right thing, gets in line and gets her papers, she can come back-and never have to worry. In the meantime she will have a nice vacation seeing all her old friends.

Last week, the president should have turned to his target audience, the young voters-that he portends to help (whose votes he so covets) and directed them to read and grasp the lessons of Toyn-bee et. al. should they have any doubt about the need for any country to enforce its immigration laws.

To demonstrate to the American people, he understands the import of following the law, as well as the teachings of Toynbee, he should do-what George W. Bush failed to do — muster the guts to do what Eisenhower did: use the United States Military to round up and deport those who will not self deport!
