Toast of the Coast
Long Beach Kids Connection will host its 3rd annual Taste of the Coast Sunday, Aug. 1 from 3-7 p.m. on the Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier. Taste of the Coast includes tasteful delights from over 40 Long Beach restaurants.

Old Time Adventures
This summer adventure is for children entering 1st to 5th grade and offers them a chance to learn about life in Old California through historical crafts, hands-on activities, games and stories through weeklong summer adventures at the preserved adobe estate of Rancho Los Cerritos.
This Old Time Adventure is from Aug. 2 to Aug. 6, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and costs $90 to enroll. Advanced reservation is required. Call (562) 570-1755 to sign up.
Cook to Impress
Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine is offering unique and luxurious experiences for expanding your techniques in the kitchen.
Two events, An Experiment in Food and Wine Aug 4 and Seafood for the Future Cooking Demo, Aug 10 are sure to improve your kitchen techniques. Both will be located at Terrace Plaza from 6-8 p.m. at the beautiful Hotel Maya. Live music, cooking dialogue and food experiments are just a few of the activities taking place at these two events. Park Movies
The movies are coming to a park near you. This summer enjoy films at a 5th District Park. Bring a lawn chair and relax with the whole family. Movies begin at dusk and are brought to you by Signal Hill Petroleum. Planet 51 will be playing Aug. 13 at Heartwell Park and How to Train your Dragon will be playing Sept. 1 at El Dorado Park.
Queen Mary Concerts
The “Summer Concert Series at the Queen Mary” kicks off on Fri., Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. with a performance by folk music legend Joan Baez and special guest Roger McGuinn. This will be the first of several concerts planned for August and September at the Harry Bridges Memorial Park at the Queen Mary including performances by Motown giant and Smokey Robinson on Aug. 18 at 8 p.m. and legendary Southern California rock band the Beach Boys on Aug. 19 at 8 p.m. For tickets or more info go to www.queenmary.com or call (800) 437-2934.

Parents Night Out
Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine is offering a Parents’ Night Out. This event allows the parents to go out for a nice calm evening while the kids enjoy a pajama party complete with dinner, movies, arts and crafts, games, and activities with supervised care. This event takes place Aug. 14, 5 to 10 p.m. at Pan American Park, 5151 Centralia Ave. Registration is $20 per child and $15 for each additional sibling. Pre-registration is required. The final concert of the Rancho Los Cerritos Summer Concerts is on Aug. 27 and features Sligo Rags.

Grace First Presbyterian Church located at 3655 Studebaker Rd. announced their concert series for 2010-2011. Laurence Juber on guitar will perform Saturday Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m. for $20. Music Sacra will perform a choral concert Oct. 31 at 3 p.m. for free. Clean Comedy Night satrring Mark Christopher Lawrence will be Saturday Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. for $10. Doyle Dykes will perform guitar on Friday Jan. 14 at 7:30 p.m. for $20. Woven Image will perform a celtic and jazz concert Sunday Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. for free. Sligo Rags will perform a celtic and bluegrass concert Saturday Mar. 26 at 7:30 p.m. for free. Yana Reznik will perform a classical piano concert Friday Apr. 15 at 7:30 p.m. for free.
