Invest in Yourself
Here’s your opportunity to “Invest in Yourself” this spring, by participating in art, music, nature, sports fitness and special interest classes. Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine has more than 400 classes, adult sports leagues and aquatics programs scheduled from March through May 2010 to help in your efforts. These programs provide opportunities for exercise and recreation, social interaction and learning, and growth and relaxation for ages pre-school to adults 50+.

Homelessness in L.B.
The Los Altos Neighborhood Library is having a special program. Come listen to a panel of speakers discuss this issue as a tie-in to Long Beach Reads – One Book, The Soloist by Steve Lopez. Be part of the program: bring your questions and comments to participate in the discussion on Mar. 13, at 11 a.m.

Poly String Quartet
The Poly High School String Quartet will be performing at the Los Altos Neighborhood Library, Mar. 9, at 4 p.m. This program is a tie-in to the “Long Beach Reads – One Book” event which features the book The Soloist by Los Angeles Times columnist Steve Lopez. Fashion Show
The American Legion Auxiliary (Unit 496) is hosting a Fashion Show on May 1st. We are currently selling tickets for this annual event. We will have fashions by Glory M’Lou, music by Ben Ahlmansin, jewelry by Cookie Lee and many raffles and wonderful food.
Tickets are a $15 donation. Social hour is at 11a.m. with lunch starting at noon. All proceeds will go towards our many veteran’s programs. To purchase tickets or more info, (562) 425-3879. We are located at 5938 Parkcrest St.
Rosie the Riveter
On Mar. 13, the Historical Society of Long Beach is presenting a program you absolutely do not want to miss. Taking a page from our signature event, the annual Cemetery Tour, we are presenting enacted stories of Long Beach women during World War II. Presented as part of the current exhibition: Posters on the American Home Front 1941 - 1945 made possible by The Long Beach Rosie the Riveter Foundation & The Historical Society of Long Beach 4260 Atlantic Ave., (562) 424-2220.
E-Waste Recycling
Tincher Preparatory School-PTA Fund Raiser is holding a free e-waste recycling event on Mar. 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free recycling/disposal of televisions, computer monitors, computers, printers, scanners, copiers, cell phones.
