Drive

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Los Angeles is collecting items for the annual Holiday Toy and Needed Items Drive. This drive is going on now until Dec. 31 at three locations: The P.D. Pitchford Cav and Animal Education Center in Long Beach, the South Bay Pac in Hawthorne, and the Administrative Office or Specialty Spay/Neuter Center in Los Angeles.

Chanukah Event

Volunteer projects for the senior adult in the community, Children’s Book Drive and Canned Food Drive to support those less fortunate in our community will take place at Alpert Jewish Community Center on Sunday, Dec. 6 from 12 – 3 p.m.

Admission is free and holiday lunch will be available for purchase.

Award-winning artist

Rufus Wainwright will appear at the Terrace Theater/Long Beach Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Jan. 9 at 8 p.m.

Going to the Dogs

A select group of Long Beach restaurants will participate in Dining for Doggies. From Dec. 4 through Dec. 12, participating restaurants will highlight a menu item and each time a customer orders it, they will be given a voucher for a free ticket to the 2009 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship.
